My Family...

The Kids and I

Here we are, folks!  My 3 kids and I.  This was taken the Thanksgiving of 2004, which is the first time we'd all been in one place in a very long time.

Outside left is my middle child / oldest son, Kelvin Jr.  He serves in the U.S. Army and has completed his second tour in Iraq, and is partying someplace tropical now -- still in the Army.  Proud of him for serving, even if he *is* cuter than me.

I'm the guy in the white shirt, in case you didn't know :-), and to my left is Shavon, my daughter  and oldest child.  I used to have her age here but she has forbidden me to do that, so you'll just have to guess (born in 1973).   She is married to a saint named LeRoy, and she is mother of my two grandsons Jordan (12) and Jelani (5) (shown there with my niece, Cari (13).  Shavon teaches Spanish in Howard County Maryland.  ANY teacher has my respect, and she has more of it than most for reasons too numerous to list here.

Lastly... is the tall child -- and my baby boy -- Michael (23), who is serving in the U.S. Navy, currently stationed on a ship somewhere out in big water. Recently married to a wonderful young lady (Andrea) who is also in the Navy.  He should be coming back to a U.S. land in December sometime.  We'll see where life goes from there.  He and Kelvin Jr. have some interesting Army vs. Navy conversations but... since Kelvin has been working out by pulling trees out of the ground bare handed, he normally wins.  Then, there's the ensuing brain vs brawn conversations that Michael fires at him, and the "you're a Navy wimp" conversation that fires back.  It *is* entertaining when they're together -- which isn't often enough..

There's more to the family, of course, and you can see images of some of them at my account on FLICKR . A special word about my mom... who is an absolute angel, and is the best mom on the planet.  I tell her routinely that she's the best mom I ever had :-), and she still smiles at it, after all these years :-).  Love her to death.

Missing from the FLICKR photos is my father - the late and infamous Rev. John Willie Ringold -- who passed away in August of 2002.

That's us.  Have an awesome day.

We must control our own destiny, or someone else will. . .
