Recently, someone said to me, "you sure do know a lot about a lot of stuff. You do *everything*." Of course, I don't do *everything*, but it did occur to me that I was more than minimally conversant in a lot of areas.

Someone else remarked that it was "amazing" how extensive my network was.  Now that is more the case.  I have access to a huge network of people and resources and being able to tap into that helps me seem almost invincible sometimes.  Through this web site, I will connect you -- my readers -- with portions of that network.

It seems that almost everyone has a web site these days-- whether or not there is a reason for it.  When I started my first web site, I didn't have a reason.  I just thought it was cool, and and I wanted to learn something cool.  I've always been fascinated with computers. Like many things I tackle, I learned enough to do what I needed to do at the time, and then a few people thought I was good at it, so they asked me to help them and then. . . suddenly. . . I was an an expert -- according to them.  Here's how you can be an expert too.

Easily, 90% of all I know about web page design I owe to a young man named Joe Barta . . .

who initially put together a tutorial web site "just to share the knowledge". I believe his web site has garnered a shameful number of awards, because he developed an incredibly comprehensive, well-written, EASY TO UNDERSTAND tutorial on how to do everything MOST PEOPLE would ever want to do on a web site.  So, the first place I recommend anyone going for that knowledge, is www.pagetutor.com.  Everything you need to know to build a nice, functioning web site is right there... free.

In the beginnng, everything was free.  These days, he has information "behind closed pages" that you have to pay for, but a LIFETIME membership to his site and everything he'll ever write there is only $24.95.   Check it out !

Joe taught me a lot -- and I still go back and review the basics often, because sometimes I just "need" to hand tweak a setting.  Without the basic he taught me, I wouldn't know how.  Admittedly, however, I have a few more tricks in my web bag these days -- I share those another day -- but it's all built on what I learned from PageTutor.com

Sites I built and maintain:

I've also put together a few sites for friends and clients with "uncomplicated" needs. As I finish more, I'll add them to the list.

More great info to come.   For now, have an awesome day.
